SERVING OUR COMMUNITY BY ENHANCING EDUCATION
The key to creating a vibrant future for the arts is passing the love of it on to the next generation. In 2011, the Tower created the Stover Fund, honoring longtime Bend philanthropists Ruth and Dutch Stover, to help expose more young people to world class arts and culture. Now eleven years and nearly 40,000 students later, the renamed Tower Education Fund is poised to underwrite LessonPLAN programs for another record breaking year.
WHAT IS LESSONPLAN?
The Tower Theatre Foundation’s award-winning education and outreach programs known as LessonPLAN (Performing Live Arts Now), has connected nearly 40,000 students to performing arts in Central Oregon since it began in 2011. Students and teachers from public, private, and home school groups throughout Central Oregon are invited to attend matinee performances and in-school assemblies. Throughout the school year, LessonPLAN presents performances by local, regional, national, and international artists to inspire and engage students. Matinee performances and in-school assemblies represent a variety of arts disciplines and are specifically designed for young audiences of all ages. Supporting curriculum related materials are sent to participating teachers to prepare students for the performances.
LessonPLAN programs engage young minds, enrich their educational experience and build a love for performing arts. Each year thousands of students will have the opportunity to experience unforgettable art experiences. Thanks to grants, the generosity of our donors, and the Tower Education Fund, participating schools are offered these performances at a minimal charge.
Information about the LessonPLAN season is sent out to all Central Oregon schools in the Fall and throughout the school year.
